What should we do if the cctv monitoring project exceeds 100 meters?
We know Category 5 and Category 6 cable can transfer signal approxmitely 100 meters, even Category 6 standard network cable, it can only up to 120 meters. Almost all network cable in market can not exceed 90 meters in engineering construction.
How to increase the transmission distance to 300 or more than 300 meters?
A lan cable switch (relay device) can be installed between the two pieces cables. In theory, we can add up to four switches during cctv installation. If you install 4 switches to connect 5 network segments, the theoretical maximum transmission distance can reach 500m. The switch has the function of amplifying the signal, and the network signal will be strengthened.
However, the signal may be unstable after the third-stage amplification of the switch. We suggest to add no more than two lan cable switches to solve the transmission problem within 300 meters.
